Don’t let your team hit the road without the protection of commercial auto insurance.
What’s parked in your company garage? Whether it’s cars, vans, trucks, or any other commercial use vehicle, we partner with top-rated providers to deliver the protection you need in Sault Ste. Marie, Wawa, Thessalon, and the Algoma District.
As your broker, we can compare all the options and put together commercial auto coverage that gives you peace-of-mind when your drivers are out on the road, pulled up to the loading dock, or completing a delivery.
Plus, our coverage can be purchased as a stand-alone policy or you can cover multiple vehicles on a single policy. Commercial auto insurance can also be bundled with other types of business insurance.
Coverage for Any Vehicle & Any Type of Business
At Dawson & Keenan, we offer commercial auto coverage for a wide range of business types and vehicles. Here are some of the coverage options available:
Retail Delivery
Involving final shipment of a product to the end-user by the owner of the vehicle, such as a pizzeria or a flower shop.
Wholesale Delivery
Involving bulk distribution of a product typically with set routes and scheduled delivery times, such as bread deliveries to a grocery store from a wholesaler.
Fleet Rating
Your business may qualify for fleet insurance if you have a minimum of five vehicles with common ownership and used for work purposes. Note that ATVs, motorcycles, and snowmobiles cannot be included.
Garage Auto Insurance
This type of commercial auto insurance extends beyond protecting your own work vehicles. It also provides protection to loaner vehicles, vehicles held for sale, and service vehicles.

How Use & Purpose Impacts Your Insurance Rating
The commercial auto insurance rating you get on your policy is based on the vehicle’s use and purpose. For example, a vehicle that delivers a load of 2×10 boards to a construction site will be rated differently than a farm vehicle dropping off a truckload of tomatoes to a restaurant. Here are a few examples to know:
Farm Seasonal Delivery
Vehicle or trailer hitched to vehicle used only seasonally, like a flatbed for hay, that otherwise stays on farm property.
Artisan Use
Typically lightweight, commercial-type cars or vans used to drive workers and their tools to a job site and take them back to the office at the end of the day.
Farm Retail/Wholesale Delivery
During harvest season, farmers may take a vehicle off property to deliver or pickup produce or other supplies. This coverage offers expanded protection for these situations.
Commercial Farm Use
Applies to vehicles used almost exclusively on farm property and taken only on public roads to cross from one field or pasture to another. No retail or wholesale deliveries.
